I have used ultrasonication for two reason: 1) to deagglomerate BaCO3, SrCO3, TiO2 and ZrO2 powders, 2) to homogenize them to synthesize titanate and zirconate based seramics such as BaTiO3. First, we used 2 g powder in 60 ml water. We used ultrasonic processor UP200S (Hielscher Ultrasonics GmbH, Germany) with a probe (7 mm in diameter). The power of ultrasonic processor is 200 W. Its frequency is 24 kHz with continues flow with cycle=1 (continues mode) and cycle=0.5 (50% discontinues mode). The processor have used for 30 minutes and 3 hours. I uploded the conference papers about that in my profile. You can find more information in there. Second, we have used ultrasonication to homogenize and to deagglomerate the reagents for 5 minutes before solid state reaction. We compared the results with a convential method (shaker with zircona balls). You can also find the article in my profile. I will uploded more information about our findings in few months.
