In addition to the Complex field, also ring

x+ty, tt=-1

There are hyperbolic ring

x+ty, tt=1

or dual ring

x+ty, tt=0

t becomes abstractly a new strange number similar to i. In general representable by a matrix, in all these examples. A unit matrix multilies x.

It is natural to extend

x+ty+ttz, ttt=1 or -1

or more dimensions.

Have not found a generic name for this set of commutative rings,

because they are not inversible for all nonzero (x,y,..), though over most of the space.
