Our lab is interested in acquiring a micro-injector or micro-capillary device (microliter scale) that can be used to efficiently pool spherical cells (~25um) into groups of 10, 100, and 1000. There seem to be a good deal of devices out there and I'd like to know more about successes and challenges of different models.
Additionally do folks prefer free-standing or mounted micro-manipulators for holding their micro-injectors/capillary device?

The Sutter Xenoworks Digital Injector might work for this application.
It can collect/ aspirate cells one at a time, or aspirate groups of cells, and then deliver/transfer them into puddles or groups, but normally this is done inside a drop of media or saline and not in the air on a coverslip as each puddle would quickly dry up and the cells would desiccate . You could deliver the cells into preyed droplets that are played down and then covered with oil to prevent them from drying out.
Normally a micromanipulator with ROE or Joystick interface is preferred and we have plenty to consider with a wide range of pricing.
Let me know more about your application and then I can help with the injector and the settings and maybe a demo. We do have some equipment in Memphis and Nashville, but I am not sure if they are setup in a way you could test it out.
