What metrics would a company executive want to know if they needed to be convinced to start being more sustainable in their business. What questions would they ask themselves?
E.g. Does non-financial performance increase financial performance?
Do investors really care about sustainability?
What advantage does it give to go beyond shareholder needs and address stakeholder needs too?

Plenty of online resources on that e.g. on HBR if you're looking for lightweight (i.e. non-scientific lit) material.
You will find enough literature on the positive consequences for businesses of engaging in sustainable activities. Most of the previous literature depicts CSR related activities are important for firm's financial performance. In addition, I have conducted a research pertaining to the benefits of engaging in sustainable activities from the risk management perspectives. You might find this helpful too.
