i currently doing research about assessing genetics literacy in university student, the tool that i use for doing the assessment is need to be tested for readability. would you give me some method that i can use to know readability of the tool that i use to assess uni student genetics literacy? thank you so much!
Bonjour, à mon avis il faut le tester avec un échantillon ( des étudiants de la même spécialité mais qui vont pas participer au test proprement dit) pour voir si les questions sont faciles à interpréter, si il y en a pas certaines qui peuvent induire les répondant en erreur, ( éviter tout mal entendu ou incompréhension)

There are two ways to answer your question:
1. Statistical tests to measure readability (e.g., sentence and vocabulary complexity). There is an abundant literature on this matter, and many free websites like https://readabilityformulas.com/free-readability-formula-tests.php
2. Readability formulas provide one avenue, and they can be limited. Just as important is clarity, comprehension, and lack of redundancy. Chenail talks about interviewing oneself, one could have a panel of experts review, and asking students could use the method of cognitive interviews.
I haven't even mentioned the importance of establishing validity and reliability (many methods but sample size might dictate many choices). The point is to be systematic and methodical.
