If you are referring to carbon and alloy steels then there materials that are stronger than these steels. The strength of steels depend upon their composition and thermal history. Similarly form of a material is important. Wires/fibres show high strength values than other forms. There are certain ceramic materials which are very hard and strong. Diamond is a very hard and strong material. Some polymeric fibers show very high strength e.g., polyethylene. Some composites materials show high strength values. Similarly some iron based bulk metallic glasses show strengths approaching 5000 MPa.
A quick review of text books of materials science and technology will provide you with a wealth of information about strength of materials.
Strength of materials could be different if tested in different modes like compression strength could be different than tensile strength or shear strength etc. Mode of testing should be known or it should be mentioned like shear strength, tensile strength etc.
A lot of materials are stronger that the steel is. And I mean it - a lot.

You'd better to clarify your question because there are different definitions of high strength material in different engineering fields. Even if your are asking this question as a civil engineer, there are some high strength materials which we cannot use as structural member because of design codes limits.

A lot of materials are stronger than steel in its original structure. For instance when you look in strength of carbon nano tubes, their strength is several factors higher in comparison to steel. However, when you try to scale to bulk properties, sizing effects and introduction of defects (vacancies, dislocations, SF) your strength starts to decrease. Also you can find very strong steels, but you would need to specify for what application you need them as you have trade-offs between strength and ductility, weldability and other desired properties.
Besides Adamantium, I hear Di-Lithium crystals are pretty strong, but unfortunately not easy to find.
