In some countries, it is common to collect tree leaves and burn them inefficiently. These leaves can be collected, crushed, added special adhesives, and then compacted (pressed) to produce biofuel products.
There is a lot on the list: high flash points, lower cloud points, moderate calorific values, readily biodegradable,... To achieve these, the cost implications are usually high. I think the lower cost of biofuels will be the dealbreaker.
A "good" biofuel in chemical context may not be good environmentally or have sustainability. Secondly, what is good in one locale or one country may be devastating in another area. A good biofuel today should be a good biofuel for future generations.
High energy density, low cost, low environmental impact, neutral or CO2 reducer, good compatibility with actual combustion and conversion technologies, among others.
Bioethanol- Bio-material with more carbohydrates
Biogas- Bio-material with more fiber and carbs
Biodiesel- Bio- material with more fat
