What kind of tracer material used for flow visualisation in water and i would like to know relationship between RPM and Reynolds number?

I am working on the vortex formation inside closed circular cylinder with rotating bottom disk and injecting rhodamine B from 1 mm hole at the centre of top non rotating bottom disk but I am not able to get any vortices for any Aspect ratio 1.5, 2.5 and 3.25.

please guide me in doing this and give me some details about rpm so that I can cverify my Reynolds number and RPM calculation.
