Recenly, I have prepared TiO2 film by a sol-gel method . Then, I use the tapping mode of AFM to characterize this film. The film is relatively uniform in morphology with surface roughness less than 20 nm. From the phase imaging of AFM, I have observed that there are two different phase areas in this film. I want to know what information I can get from this obsevation, the crystal phase difference?

In fact, my TiO2 film is calcined at 550 centigrade which is a transformation temperature of TiO2 from anatase phase to rutile phase. Therefore, I guess the two different phase areas observed in the AFM pahse diagram may be correspoding to the anatase phase and rutile phase. However, I am not very sure if this analysis is correct or not. Can anyone help me?

Thanks!
