I have done cancer cell line work on the B16F10 cell line on skin tumour model as Papilloma and Melanoma, Antimutagenic assays as Chromosomal Aberrations and Micronucleus Assay. This is all work I have done on medicinal herbs. Now I want to enhance my skills on cancer research by doing more work. What sort of work should I carry out to improve my research calibre?
First frame a research question on papilloma/melanoma. For instance, how to induce senescence by identifying and targeting the key networks in this cell line. For that you could use any omics technique (genomics, proteomics, etc). Then try to rewire that network to get your expected result. (just an example).
You should read articles, clinical data to find out what are the outstanding issues in melanoma diagnosis/treatment (like early diagnosis, etc) and use that as a basis for your research question and then try to address it using different techniques.

Instead of conventional work in your lab you can try for the mechanistic study to find out the pathways involved in the protective action. For this objective you can go for techniques like western blotting, RT-PCR, immunofluorescence, and immunoprecipitation in comparison with the control groups. It will provide you the exposure to the classic techniques in the molecular biology and gives clear knowledge on ground level pathways in cancer.
