Colleages of mine are working on a great tool to facilitate data transformations and they are interested in learning what issues you guys come across with for example in Excel, when preparing the data you've gathered.
Things such as concatenating/joining columns, abusing the find-and-replace functionality, removing capital letters, converting between metric systems...

One of the most annoying problems in Excel is the lack of a feature to concatenate arrays. There are add on libraries or after-market packages that have been built by third-parties for that, but it is often useful to be able to do that directly. A couple of other problems that I also would like to see addressed are some of the smaller functions that are missing for calculating Z-scores and stuff like that without having to do the (admittedly simple) calculations.
