I find many literatures report that the luminescence properties of a luminophor could be affected by the solvents, ion strength, temperature, etc. The viscosity, dielectric constant, polarity of solvent , all could influence the luminescence properties of a luminophor. I find those issues too complicated. Could someone give some general guideline on how to study/report the the luminescence properties of a luminophor?

Dear Sir. Concerning your issue about the factrors that affect the luminescence properties of a luminophor. The effect of hydration on the spectral luminescence properties of solutions of 2,2-difluoro-4-methylnaphto[2,1-e]-1,3,2-dioxaborine in organic solvents is studied. Quenching of luminescence and color changes of the solutions associated with hydration of luminophore molecules were observed. Quantum chemical modeling of the structure of the hydrate complex is carried out. In understanding radiative transitions of lumiphors, it is important to consider (i) radiative transitions and (ii) competing nonradiative transitions. The energetics of a lumiphor are largely governed by the electronic properties. These can be perturbed somewhat by the local environment, giving rise for example to solvatochromic shifts (solvent polarity, dielectric constant etc.). The efficienies of the radiative transition and therefore the luminescent yields and rates/lifetimes, are largely affected by the competing nonradiative transitions, however. Nonradiative transitions couple the excited state energy to the local environment and so the vibrational properties of both are important. Other quenching mechanisms such as collisional quenching, oxygen quenching etc. all reduce the radiative yield and recombination rate.
