What is the impact of open access journals on research process optimization?
If we presume that rapid publications of "gold" open access papers by authors financial support can increase volume of papers, subsequently an amount of quickly "baked" research papers will also multiply.
Dear Ospan, I believe that OA journals open a very important way to scientists communicate their findings. However, I have some concerns with respect the exponential increase in the number of published articles nowadays. Concerns about the rigour of peer review process of some of such journals... There are so many papers and they are published so fast in comparison to "traditional" journals that lead us to distrust of certain new emerging OA journals...
The open access of journals disseminate the ideas of research to several research fellow and help to enrich the next journals.

It is important not to look at OA too narrowly or simplistically, but consider it in the light of a number of factors that have led to scholarly journals becoming more accessible (p. 63).
I think we should first of all make a careful distinction among the gold (author-pays) and diamond (free for both authors and readers) open access journals. The diamond ones may well stand a good chance to become a reasonable alternative to conventional (reader-pays) journals.
Open access is very important. The top science results must be free for everyone. Every top-rated journal must provide open access. It is accelerating communication, exchange of the ideas, the further research. The other question is research quality and review quality. I think open access may help just improve it. Probably it would also be useful to publish review for every paper (at least online) and provide possibility for reader to publish online their review also.
There is beneficence for universities in Low-income countries like Lesotho which do not afford to subscribe to any journal, lecturers and students benefit immensely from OA journals.
