These drugs have been used in several viral infections (Hepatitis, Encephalitis, Influenca and other) , mainly as immunomodulating agent, but the antiviral mechanism remains unclear.
Ionosine containing drugs are strengthens the immune system and fights viral infections. These may also increases the activity of helper T-cells and natural killer cells. Recently, these drugs are currently used (mostly in European countries) to treat people with AIDS and other viral diseases, including herpes, shingles, warts, influenza, the common cold, and viral infections of the liver (hepatitis) and brain (encephalitis).
Therefore, by this drug it is possible to trigger this pathway. But the sufficient evidences are not available.
