? As I have synthesized graphene oxide following the Modified Hummers method.One thing I understand that the absorption is too high but what is the reason behind this distortion and how I can fix it.

Absorbance is -logTransmission.
Absorbance of 4 means a transmission of 0.0001.
At this low light level, the detector noise dominates and the calculated value of Absorbance becomes nonsensical.
You can improve this by reducing the thickness of your sample, or if it is a dispersion, reducing the concentration.

make very dilute solution of your graphene oxide and recheck the UV-Vis spectrum. You will get good absorbance spectrum. If you get absorption peaks at ~230 and ~300 nm, you may confirm your GO formation.
