I guess most of us non-native speakers of English like to follow some sort of TV channel broadcasting in English (for me when having dinner). Do you have a favourite one? through what medium? and what makes it your favourite?
My favorite international news channel is Press TV, an Iranian station which broadcasts the latest news on global events. The reason I prefer this channel is that it employs an independent stance for reporting the news. It adopts a method of treating the news which is free from outside influences.
My favorite English channel is BBC News. It is my favorite because beside learning about whats happening around the world, it also improves my English language listening, pronunciation, and also vocabulary.
I am glad you mentioned all the channels that I like and follow on a daily basis. In fact I make a point of following them all (don't forget France 24 English) apart from Khaleej times which I don't have apparently, in order to get a variety of input both linguistically and politically.
I prefer to check out various news channels since every channel is going to cover things differently. However, I think Al Jazeera America to be less biased and neutral in their reporting (from my point of view anyways ).
One of my favourite channels. I like to hear the RP accent I got used to in the UK, but nowadays the BBC has several other presenters using other Irish and Australian accents which I suppose is part of the International Englishes.
I have been listening to BBC here in Kenya. Although we have English channels from Kenya, they are not as robust as BBC in terms of what is in their menu.
