I want to trap fluid (water..) in the PDMS channel for a long time. After a short period, the channels become empty of fluid. Is there a way to reduce the permeability of PDMS?
Hi Akbari, if the channel has openings which are in contact with air, the issue might be the evaporation of the liquid from the channel. If you can close the channel's opening this might reduce the chance of evaporation. I might be able to help if you can explain a bit more.
My challenge is that my channel encapsulates and the inlet and outlet are close, possibly due to the high porosity of PDMS after a 1-day hole of liquid exit.
Try keeping the device in a humidified chamber. I will fill a box with water (let's say this is box1) and place the device in a smaller box (box2). Make sure that the box2 lid is open and Box1 lid is closed. In this case, the liquid should remain inside as it will be saturated with water vapours. Let me know if this helps.
