Yes, but Eduardo Ribeiro de Sousa was a Professor and Engineer that got his PhD in the same scientific area before. When he mentioned this Jose Martí quote, I do not think that he was thinking just in the philosophical existence of life.

All Gary Kasparov knows is how to play chess! He's totally useless for anything else, including decisions regarding the fate of this dying planet!

Sorry Dr. António Manuel Abreu Freire Diogo. José Martí was not first, this is a paraphrase of the Talmud (“A man must first build a house and plant a vineyard, and then marry.” (Talmud, Sota, 44b)). But knowing little bit these people, I'm not sure that they came up with it themselves...

But seriously, the Marti's phrase differs from the well-known sequence (house-tree-child) - namely (tree-child-book). Those, the house ignored and replaced by the book. Not everyone will agree with this ...

What really makes us feel so good in this amazing world of Research are the conquered realizations, particularly those that we never imagined before that would be possible to achieve? “Book” is regarded here as the scientific achievement or intellectual creation that will nurture and encourage directly or indirectly the future generations.

I do not know Kasparov nor the other chess players, but certainly that we all agree that to produce anything that really worth is necessary much more than intuition. It should be noted that computers merely execute (hopefully) the models and instructions or software that we conceive, develop and implement.

I wish, one day I will write a book and contribute for science and society !

I heard many times from my mother that her life would give a book. She rebuilt her house with my father, she guided the plantation of many trees and vineyards, she gave birth and educated well their five children, but never wrote that book.
