Forging by means of vibration used in the engine forging. It helps to better fill the workspace with metal. The use of vibration with a particular frequency leads to a reduction in the strength of the printing. Using vibration forging may have a negative character if the frequency is not well chosen. Method is used very rarely because of the large masses of the instruments and their complicated maintenance.
Vibration assisted forming is a technique to improve metal forming process. During the metal forming processes such as Forging, Extrusion and many more, vibration is introduced from the lower die that is transferred to workpiece and produce two effects. First is volume effect that is produced when vibration influence the movement of dislocations which are the main cause of plastic deformation and thus reduce the force required for the forming process to be performed. Second is Surface Effect that is produced when there is periodic reduction in the contact area of die and workpiece thus reducing the friction and produce good surface. This is the main theme behind the vibration assisted forming process. Analytical, FEM simulations and experiments have all supported this phenomenon.
