We have synthesized the ZrO2 nanoparticles through wet chemical method. To come to conclusion ZrO2 is direct or indirect band semiconductor. We need to calculate band gap using Brus formula. Anyone help me.
Are you really sure that the nano-ZrO2 powders synthesised by your wet method is indeed a semiconductor? I tend to doubt it because all the probable impurities (no matters their low or minimized occurrence) shall go to the grain border in any specimen you prepare and this will make that ZrO2 more a conductor species than a semiconductor, that without consider a more incident impurity that could dope the nanocrystals in the cationic crystalline net, that, in addition, could turn ZrO2 into an ionic conductor via oxide vacancies.
