If I have a Raman device that has a spectral resolution of 1 cm-1 then what is the uncertainty associated with my peak position measurements?

For instance, if I measure my peak-fitted peak position at 679.4 cm-1 will the uncertainty be 679 ± 1 cm-1?

I have read that peak fitting can reduce the uncertainty by half to 0.5 cm-1, is that true?

Thanks
