I' m working on review of literature of my thesis and I was wondering about the time range to describe a former study as "recent study". The desribtion "recent" is given to studies conducted in the range of how many years ago before the date of my thesis.
For classical papers, it does not matter. Recent means as close as possible to the current year
For me, my supervisor suggests me to use articles that are between 2013 - 2019, preferably 2018 -2019.
It is a relative issue and may be customized as per the specific timeline mentioned in your research/thesis protocol, please.
It's nonspecific. It depends on many factors specially number of research on that particular topic.
For example, if there is no study on your topic or related to it in last two decades then 2000 would be the recent literature.
If a research is just published while writing your topic then that would be the recent one.
Usually we consider upto 5-10 years,( more in case of rare topic)from the date of your study.
