I am currently trying to use the CERC formula to calculate the sediment flux during a period of time. I am having trouble figuring out what is the time component in the formula.
My data contains Hs/ dir/ period in 3 hour interval.
The time component in CERC formula for sediment transport refers to the duration of time over which sediment is transported. The CERC formula is used to estimate the rate of sediment transport in rivers and coastal areas. It is based on the principle that sediment transport is proportional to the product of the flow velocity and the excess shear stress, which is calculated as the difference between the bed shear stress and critical shear stress. The time component is expressed as the duration of time over which the excess shear stress is applied to the bed. This is typically taken as one day, although it can vary depending on the specific application. The time component is included in the CERC formula to account for the fact that sediment transport rates can vary over time due to changes in flow velocity, water depth, and other factors.
