Hi! There are of course many such theories, for a part of the field and in some cases for the whole, when it rather becomes also philosophy. I would like to recommend a recent such philosophy; Luciano Floridi’s Philosophy and Ethics of Information.

At least it helps me to understand a lot, both about the information society (the ”Infosphere”) with ontological and epistemological theories, the long history of ICTs where digital ICTs is a recent but very radical part, human intellects (semantic entities) versus artificial intelligence (syntactical entities), new meaning of some classic concepts (as privacy and presence), etc and many other many helpful terms and distinctions.

If interested, you can start with a 2007 paper ( and continue with other papers or his philosophy-introducing books ”Information - A very short introduction” or the 2013 book ”The fourth revolution - how the infosphere is reshaping human reality” ( available also as listening book on Audible -where first book is free). It all depends on the field in which you want to apply ICT to. Unless you really study the technical aspect of ICT, you have many fields that are using ICT and as such many theories, frameworks and models are developed. For instance, business, e-Government, FinTech & RegTech and e-Health are fields that heavily rely on ICT to ensure better performance and service quality. Even though here we tend more to dive into the field of Information Systems, theories about user engagement and acceptance, performance assessment, security and control prevail. I can mention, not to limit, UTAUT, TAM, TPB, TOE, TTF. I'd be happy to collaborate should you are interested in this type of research.

As Euler wandered around Königsberg trying not to cross any bridge more than once, no doubt he longed for a time when ICT might, if not solve all our problems, at least give us insoluble problems at a higher level - perhaps the waters were rising. In education, piecemeal ICT applications have seldom been successful and have often done more harm than good. I think that Connectivism theory is an appropriate theory to explain utilizing technology in education. It is a pedagogical approach that afforded learners the ability to connect to each other through technologies, internet networks, and teamwork tools. Learning is regarded as multi-faceted tasks, and the tasks themselves designate the most appropriate learning approach to learners. Consequently, this theory considers that learning is a process of connecting information sources or specialized nodes. The core learning skill is the ability to recognize relations between fields, ideas, and concepts.

One of the rapidly growing fields of ICT and Industry 4.0 information technology applications is the improvement of research and analytical techniques carried out on large data sets in Big Data database and analytical systems. Big Data database technologies are mainly used to collect and analyze large sets of information. Without computerized analytical systems such as Data Analytics and / or Business Intelligence, the functionality and usefulness of large sets of information collected in Big Data databases for specific research will be very limited. On the other hand, the use of computerized analytical systems such as Data Analytics and / or Business Intelligence in combination with the Internet of Things technology, selective data collection applications on the Internet and other ICT and Industry 4.0 technologies in combination with large sets of information collected on Big Data platforms is becoming an advanced instrumentarium research, which can be useful for conducting various types of scientific research and for the needs of business applications in enterprises and public and financial institutions. thanks to the above-mentioned ICT, Internet, Industry 4.0, Big Data etc. information technologies, it allows to reduce the time and increase the efficiency of conducting analytics on large data sets in order to define, define and characterize right data. The analyzes carried out in Big Data systems use the IT analytical platforms Business Intelligence, Data Science and Data Analytics, etc. The analytics carried out on the computerized Business Intelligence platforms is one of the key advanced information processing technologies of the fourth technological revolution known as Industry 4.0. The current technological revolution referred to as Industry 4.0 is determined by the development of the following advanced information processing technologies: Big Data database technologies, cloud computing, machine learning, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, Business Intelligence and other advanced technologies of Data Mining. The analytics carried out on computerized Business Intelligence platforms currently supports enterprise management processes, facilitates the identification of opportunities and threats to the development of enterprises, allows you to quickly generate analytical reports on selected issues in the economic and financial situation of an economic entity. The applications of ICT and Industry 4.0 information technologies in the field of quantitative, statistical, probabilistic and predictive analytics carried out on large data sets obtained from various sources, including the Internet, are developing particularly rapidly. Statistical methods are used to analyze quantitative results of scientific research. In recent years, specific issues in the context of common knowledge are verified in information resources downloaded from the Internet. Downloaded from specific websites, including social media portals, large data collections collected in Big Data systems and are examined using the analysis of sentiment and opinions of Internet users on specific topics, issues, problems, manufactured products, etc. In this way, using ICT and Industry 4.0 can verify specific issues in the context of common knowledge.

Correctly carried out statistical methods used allow for objective processing of large quantitative data sets, thanks to which research theses are verified. The use of ICT information technology for the needs of statistical analytics allows for automation, standardization, objectification of carried out verification processes of quantitative data describing complex processes, etc. and reduction of the costs of analyzes. The computerized processes of applying statistical methods to analyze large quantitative data sets have enabled the development of analytics based on the application of advanced data processing technology Industry 4.0, including data processing in the cloud, in Big Data database systems, the use of Business Intelligence analytical platforms, the Internet of Things technology, learning machines, artificial intelligence, etc. Without statistical methods, the effective development of advanced analytics, Data Analytics, Data Science, etc., was not possible. Therefore, without the use of statistical methods in the verification and analytical processes of large quantitative data sets, the development of scientific research would be much slower than it proceeds. The analytics carried out on computerized Business Intelligence platforms currently supports enterprise management processes, facilitates the identification of opportunities and threats to the development of enterprises, allows you to quickly generate analytical reports on selected issues in the economic and financial situation of an economic entity. In recent years, ICT and Industry 4.0 information technologies have been used in conducting predictive analyzes of complex economic, financial, natural, geological, climatic processes, etc. Predictive analysis has been improved for many years by using computerized modern ICT information technologies, which include processing in cloud computing of large data sets stored in Big Data database systems. Predictive analysis can also use Business Intelligence analytics and other innovative information technologies typical of the current fourth technological revolution known as Industry 4.0. The ICT ICT technologies listed above as well as advanced information processing and analysis technologies Industry 4.0 are increasingly used for the needs of conducting predictive analyzes regarding, for example, marketing activities of various business entities that advertise their offer on the Internet or analyze the needs in this regard reported by other entities, in including companies, corporations, financial and public institutions. More and more commercially operating business entities and financial institutions conduct marketing activities on the Internet, including on social media portals. More and more public institutions and business entities, including companies, banks and other entities, need to carry out multi-criteria analyzes on large datasets downloaded from the Internet describing the markets in which they operate and contractors and clients with whom they cooperate. On the other hand, there are already specialized technology companies that offer this type of analytical services, including predictive analysis services, they prepare commissioned reports, which are the result of such multi-criteria analyzes of large data sets obtained from various websites and from entries and comments contained on social media portals based on sentiment analysis of the content of entries in Internet users' comments.

One of the rapidly developing fields of implementation of ICT and Industry 4.0 information technologies into economic processes is online electronic banking and e-commerce. The key determinants of the globally developing e-commerce relate primarily to the implementation of ICT information technologies and advanced data processing technologies, i.e. industry 4.0 typical for the current technological revolution to computerized, automated transaction systems supporting online trading. In addition, the use of blockchain technology for transaction security systems and data transfer on the Internet. The use of ICT information technologies and advanced data processing technologies i.e. typical for the current technological revolution Industry 4.0 to online transaction systems supporting e-commerce already applies to almost all the functioning of online stores, from computerized sales support systems, logistics, accounting, reporting, risk management to Internet marketing activities and improving security systems for online transactions. Another important determinant of e-commerce development is the development of online mobile banking available on mobile devices and new solutions related to the Internet of Things technology. Online banking is starting to dominate, the development of which is determined by technological progress in the field of information technology ICT and Industry 4.0. Computerization is also increasingly affecting public sector institutions servicing tax systems and settlements of business entities. In addition, Business Intelligence analytical platforms supporting the management processes of companies operating also in the e-commerce sector have been developed for several years. The analyst of large information sets in Big Data databases is also developing. Big Data Analytics and Data Science analytical systems are also used by businesses operating also in the field of e-commerce. In recent years, new internet marketing instruments have also been developed, mainly used on social media portals, and are also used by companies operating in the e-commerce sector. Internet technology and fintech companies are also emerging that offer information services on the Internet to support marketing management, including the planning of advertising campaigns for products sold via the Internet. To this end, sentiment analyzes are used to survey Internet users' opinions regarding dominant awareness, recognition, brand image, mission and the offer of specific companies. Sentiment analysis is carried out on large data sets downloaded from various websites, including millions of pages of social media portals collected in Big Data systems. The analytical data collected in this way are very helpful in the process of planning advertising campaigns carried out in new media, including social media portals. These campaigns advertise products and services sold via the Internet, available at online stores. In view of the above, the development of e-commerce is determined mainly by technological progress in the field of ICT information technologies and advanced data processing technologies Industry 4.0 and new technologies used in securing financial transactions carried out via the Internet, including e-commerce related transactions, e.g. technology blockchain. To sum up, information ICT and Industry 4.0 are an important factor in economic development primarily in emerging knowledge-based economies. In many countries, there are investment programs financed also from public funds to activate the development of applications in the ICT and Industry 4.0 industries. In this way, individual developing countries whose economies are largely based on such production factors as technology, information, innovation, entrepreneurship and knowledge build their comparative advantage. Building comparative advantage in knowledge-based economies includes investment in new technologies, including Internet, ICT and Industry 4.0. Investments carried out in modern internet technologies, ICT and Industry 4.0 increase the efficiency of production processes, logistics, management, marketing, risk control etc. in enterprises operating in various branches of the economy. I have described the above issues of various aspects of the application of information systems and ICT, including Big Data, Business Intelligence in companies operating on the Internet in my scientific publications available on the Research Gate portal.
