I am trying to perform UV spectroscopy on doped and undoped bulk SrTiO3, but I am having trouble finding the band gaps. The absorbance graph doesn't come as intended. I have tried distilled water and ethanol as solvents, but it seems not to work. Can you suggest to me which chemical should I use as a solvent to perform UV spectroscopy?
If you can suggest any good method for UV besides the solution technique, please also requested to give that as well. Thank You so much for answering!
Dear Shahran, I wonder how big your bulk samples are? Also, I suspect what you call solution is rather suspension as it's not dissolved but just dispersed. You should try to polish your bulk samples from two faces and measure transmission if big enough. Good luck. Tomas

Yes, I should call it suspension. I found out that the grain size of my sample is around 2 micrometer.
I tried to make a thin tablet of my sample by mixing it with KBr. But still didn't work out. can you please suggest what should I do then??

Can you make thin films of your samples by coating on the fused silica substrates to measure the UV spectra? You need to reduce the grain size as Tomáš suggested before getting dispersed solutions.

Dear Sharan, I would suggest you the diffuse reflectance measurement of your 'powder' using integration sphere. Then you may obtain the bandgap energy using Kubelka-Munk theory.

I am still trying to find a solution to this using bulk sample. If I don't find out any possible solution,then I might have to go for thin films.But thanks for your suggestions!
