Though you can make some generalizations about texture (e.g. Ultisols and oxisols are predominantly made of clay) more information is needed than just the taxonomic classification to come to correct conclusions
Based on soil order and sub order we can predict to some extent what would be the the soil texture. Qualitative way of texture classification may not help in further studies / recommendations correctly.
For The vertisols (black cotton soils) mainly do have higher clay content, but experimentally silt contents are also found higher. So can we generalize the texture only by the names?
