I wanted to work on polyelectrolyte based metal organic frame works. I am not familiar with this field. Can any one explain the difference between ionic polymers and polyelectrolytes.
Also Does any one have research experience in Metal organic frame works with polyelectrolytes as ligands

I do not familiar with the name of ionic polymers, but I recently have encountered a class of polymer named ionomer, which is quite different with the polyelectrolytes.
My answer may not fit you question, but I hope it may provide you some extra information.
if ionic polymers are similar to ionomers then I have read a paper which tells that ionomers are charged polymers containing low density of charge units in their backbone with remaining units are nonpolar and water-insoluble. So they can't dissolve in high dielectric constant solvents. They undergo dipole-dipole interaction rather than direct electrostatic forces for which they are different from polyelectrolytes.
