Generally specific surface area measurements give an indication of the available surface area which should correlate both with solubility and dissolution rate and therefore with bioavailability. The solution to the problem of drug delivery by nanoparticles is the toxicity of the tandem, rapid delivery to the target and release of the drug. The BET theory is an approximate theory of adsorption in porous bodies in closed systems. The human body is an open system with a high concentration of organic molecules up to 30 percent and therefore it is not correct to use the BET theory for this problem. This information is used to predict the dissolution rate, as this rate is proportional to the specific surface area. Thus, the surface area can be used to predict bioavailability.
