Dear friends,
I am trying to preparing the ready to press (RTP) granules for silicon nitride ceramics. Typically, ethanol is used as the solvent, and ball milling is used for mixing and grinding. After drying, the RTP will be dry pressed into green bodies.
So, some additives should be used in the wet milling to ensure the strength and perfectness of the green bodies. I wonder if there is any sequence of adding these additives including binders (e.g. PVB, etc.), plasticizers (e.g. PEG, DOP, DBP, etc.), dispersants, and lubricants. Can I add binders and plasticizers together with other raw powders (like silicon nitride and RE oxides) before ball milling? Or should I add some of them after the sufficient ball milling of raw powders and mix them with the pre-milled slurry gently before drying? Thanks a lot for your responses.
