We found an enrichment of SMAD2 binding elements on differentially methylated regions in a comparison of prostate cancer cells with the same cells after induction of cellular senescence
Smad2 may be involved in signaling pathways that transcriptionally regulate oncogenes implicated in cancer metastasis. In one experiment (see attachment), SMAD2 partnered with a methyltransferase to suppress a gene that promotes metastasis.
