The proprioception (sense of position and movement in space of the body and its parts) is only one element of the somatosensory processing (which also includes, for example, tactile, temperature and nociceptive sensations).
Perfectly in agreement with Fernando. To measure 'objectively' somatoperception you can use electrophysiology (eg somatosensory evoked potentials). Depending on the stimulus you use the responses will tell you about one or several components of somatosensation: for instance, if you want to study proprioception specifically you can record the responses to the movement of a digit (eg Desmedt & Ozaki 1991); if you are interested in thermo-nociception you can use a laser thermal stimulus, etc...
