The connections between music and humanistic emotions are so complicated that we should examine them from different dimensions, but I suppose that the reason for why we prefer listen to music and immerse in it in our privacy is that music is an artistic form in which we can have our own unique interpretations about a piece of music different from the others, and this capability enables us to find our emotions, imaginations and at last ourselves in the music we listen to; and this may be the reason which brings music closer to our solitude. The last part of your question relates to everyone’s different personalities in society. It is clear that all people have multiple sides in different social positions.
