Big data is simply a collection of tons and tons of data on various variables. Consequently, quality assurance is one critical area which can make use of big data to identify patterns by connecting the dots from various angles and try to draw conclusions.

For instance we can look at product quality. In this case the Big data analytics team has collected data on product defects, product review comments, customer reported defects, design complexity data, statistic analysis data etc….

The Quality assurance engineer for example, tries to look at all the data, conducts some statistical analysis using statistical tools and try to see any correlation exists between nature of reported defect data.
