Hi everyone,

I am now following a silver staining protocol which will add 20ul formaldehyde together with 0.125g silver nitrate in 50ml water. However, according to my knowledge formaldehyde will reduce silver ion into metallic silver. Therefore, I am curious that will the sensitivity decrease due to some of the silver ion reduced into metallic silver and fail to bind to protein?

PS. This protocol work quite well so i'm just curious if this ''problem'' is really a problem.

Thank you!
