I am studying on CO2 reduction to formate. For that I am taking LSV in CO2 saturated environment. Prior to study I am purging the CO2 gas (20ml/mint) for almost half an hour then pre-reduce the sample in same environment for 30 mints at constat potential. And then take the LSV plot for CO2 reduction. In am little bit confuse that while taking LSV in inert environment do I also have to reduce the sample in inert environment?

What specific information do you want to get from a LSV after controlled potential electrolysis? I would think that after 30 min of reduction you should quantify your formate by NMR or ion chromatography.
