How can the NDSI index be calculated based on the Landsat Oli 8 multispectral bands and also for the Sentinel 2 level 2 A images??
NDVI is calculated as a ratio between the red (R) and near infrared (NIR) values in traditional fashion. NDVI = (NIR - R) / (NIR + R)
In Landsat 4-7
NDVI = (Band 4 – Band 3) / (Band 4 + Band 3)
In Landsat 8
NDVI = (Band 5 – Band 4) / (Band 5 + Band 4).

My question was about calculating NDSI from Landsat OLI 8 and Sentinel 2 images. You have explained the method with which is calculating the NDVI index. I ask is do you have any ideas on the formula for calculating the normalized difference soil index?
