Recently CEN publish a draft test standard prEN 17681-1:2023. According to this test standard, some PFAS with functional group, e.g. ester, will convert to the related PFCA or n:2 FTOH, e.g. Me-PFOA converted to PFOA, 8:2 FTA to 8:2 FTOH and 8:2 FTMAC to 8:2 FTOH. This is verified.

But for the other PFAS, perfluoroalkyl iodide and fluorotelomer iodide, e.g. 8:2 FTI, can not be detected by GC-MS after hydrolysis. Also, the expected product of alkaline hydrolysis - 8:2 FTOH cannot be detected.

So I would like to know what the product of hydrolysis of fluorotelomer iodide, 6:1 FTI, 6:2 FTI, 6:3 FTI and 8:2 FTI, etc.?
