What is the best procedure to produce nano particles. What is the cost involved in it. Can anybody give the detailed procedure to produce nano particles with cost involved in it. Is it readily available in the market.
Nano particles of various materials are available in market. However, one could also attempt to develop them through mechanical or chemical route. Mechanical route might involves attrition of powder particles using Ball Mill. For Chemical route one could consult the research papers discussing the nano particle development process.
Hi, i agree with Harpreet. if you want to produce nano particles by using mechanical procedure, i recommend you to read a review paper entitled as "Mechanical alloying and milling" by C. Suryanarayana.
since "Machining Can be done on convectional machines as well as CNC Machines",
parameter involved in making decision to adopt a method is "Precision" in this case.
-> similarly there are many methods of making nano particles. nano particles may be prepared at lower as well as higher costs. the parameter involved in decision making in this case is "Purity".
purity is good cost is high, less pure low cost.
there are patented methods to prepare nano particles
Refer : Sigma-Aldrich
they are good in making nano particles. while supplying nano particles they will specify the patent no for making these.
there are different methodologies involved in making of nano particles. but generalized unique procedure exists for nano fluid preparation. vast literature is available in nano fluid research in enhancement of heat transfer.
I doubt the fact that machining could help in generating the nano particles. People had even tried various non-conventional machining routes, however, it is still very hard to go below the 10-20 micron dimension. In present state of art, i believe, ball milling and chemical route are the methods on which one could coin upon.
High Energy Ball Milling isn't the best way to produce nano particles if you are considering the quality of the product. It has some drawbacks like surface contamination and introduction of structural defects.
If quality is the major concern there are physical methods like Laser ablation, Sputter Deposition, Chemical Vapour Deposition etc.
Chemical methods are simple, versatile, low cost and provides high yield.
chemical routes are the best ways to synthesis nano particles ,as it is very simple and cost effective also . for example, by using tanic acid and silver nitrite, with minutes we ca synthesis Ag nao particles, with the same copper ,gold also could be prepared by adding their nitrites.
