We have a project to characterize the sediment that accumulate in sewage pumping stations. Sample has been taken and wet sieve analysis for the coarse fraction of the sample is needed.
What is the standard procedures(if any ) to perform this test? And what precautions we should take in consideration.
For the TOC determinations several methods have been developed which some of them need compositional and complicated analytical instruments and others are inexpensive chemical methods , but all of them with advantages and limitations. In the instrument methods are included the LECO, the RockEval pyrolysis, the Lost on ignition ( LOI ) and the Combustion - Infrared method. The most inexpensive and widely used method is the Wakley - Black wet oxidation - titration method which has been validated and compared with LECO and Combustion - Infrared method.
