I read somewhere that "the largest part of a cloud center operation cost goes to the kilowatts used". That means that power bills reduce cloud providers profits. Where can I get some data.
Very good question...running data centers is not environmental friendly affair. i would suggest you to watch the Facebook data center video and it requires mountain airs to cool the data center. it requires 20 generates as backup to run 24-7 facebook for 1 billion users. High energy is required run 24-7. FACEBOOK video can be right starting point for you.
Thank you very much Rajeev. I will surely do, but can I get some figures. I will be attending a doctoral fellow interview and I am actually looking for some reference for my concept paper. I will be researching on techniques that can reduce energy consumption in the cloud by performing efficient task scheduling especially scheduling virtual machines on Physical machine?
I think that the new network architecture (Software-defined Networking (SDN)), will reduce power bills and increase the providers profits. You may read more about SDN.
