I have performed studies on this particular question, on the origin of the splenic artery, through injection of Metacrylates and moulding of the arteries.
I'll have to consult wide bibliography on the subject and post it soon.

On the core of this poster, you can see the result of the techniques of vascular injection and corrosion casts as we regularly perform in our Department of Anatomy. In this case injected Perspex (Metacrylate) with addition of fluorescent dye, for 3D examination under Ultraviolet illumination.

Maria, your casts of arteries are excellent! We have no corrosion specimens of celiac trunk branches but we dissected abdominal cavity in some cadavers and also we reviewed a lot of literature about celiac trunk and mesenteric arteries variations.
Maria, what do you think about collaboration on the problem of different anatomical patterns of celiac trunc and mesenteric arteries? I believe we will be able to write a review together, at least. Thereafter it may be published in a Russian or Portuguese journal.

I realize that it took me 25 days to come back here, and I'm sorry for that. In fact it took me exactly 25 days of searches in my private collection, to dig for my original descriptions of the coeliac trunk.
I knew I had Albrecht Von Haller's original description of the artery. To post here (for public interest...). The fact is that I was looking for Von Haller, and the original text is authored by his disciple BoerHaaven, and the book was recluded and kept in a box for disincfection of 17th century old worms. I had forgotten this... I now can only handle the book with gloves, because it is highly toxic.
Fortunately I think I made a great job in repairing the book infection, and/or the book worm was nice enough not to go through the main text, as I stopped its work in time...
I'll post photos of the original as soon as I can.

My poor raw (secondary !) understanding of the Latin leads me to the strong conviction that Von Haller never used the concept of tripus, nor trifurcation of the artery. He simply very clearly scientifically described that there were three main visceral branches, arising from the Aorta >Descendens, and then three main visceral branches from the Coeliac trunk, after bifurcation into the Hepatic and Gastro-splenic arteries. Tripus Halleri is a misfit, coming from poor translations, and mistakes persist, longer than the correct truth. (We know that from teaching. Students learn incorrections much quicker than they learn the many correct statsments in our lessons. That's human nature.
Von Haller quotes freely from Vesalius and Winslow, in his description of the artery.
I'll have to check on that. I have Winslow's intact original, here, also.
Maria! These Books are really treasures. Facts on Haller tripus are discovery. Any article on the celiac trunc should include that.
Winslow, or Vincelo as his name was insacribed on the cover of his Anatomy book, also has an interesting desciption, that preceded Von Haller's.
Nevertheless Albrecht Von Haller offers the first coherent, simple anatomical written description of the artery.
He also quotes Vesalius, but Leonardo da Vinci, depicted the artery quite clearly, a few years before.
Sometimes, History plays strange tricks on the real first discoverers. It depends on us to renew these bibliographic realities.
Let's join hands and start working. History also taught m that whenever Portugal and Russia join efforts, there's a promise of good results.
