From elementary chemical kinetics we are studying terms like energy barrier, activation energy, potential energy curve etc. How can we explain the energy barrier physically If we are considering a reaction happening in a beaker?
Does it mean after getting some energy (heat) the molecule will jump and reach a transition state and will come down and form the product ?
My doubt is, how we will explain the energy barrier when it comes to a real reaction happening in a metal surface, beaker or any closed container?
After explaining all of the above how can we treat the term phenomenon tunneling in chemical kinetics ?
Apart from the definition of activation energy am expecting a logical explanation of energy barrier
Thank you
