because we need to allow solar radiation passed throw glass cover and not stored in it which make the cover hot surface

As you know
A thinner glass cover , higher the efficiency of the solar distilled can be achieved as more solar radiation passed trough the glass and lower heat storage inside the glass cover. I think 2 mm thickness is very good choose except it may brake down during fixing process or when it is subjected to any load. So, a glass cover with 3 mm thickness is better.

But a thinner glass cover will increase the radiation and convective heat losses from the outer glass surface.
Using two or four glass covers with same thickness sandwiching a thin air gap between them can reduce the heat conduction losses.

It must be clear to you and everyone that the glass thickness or mass must be small to avoid heating the glass which is the distiller condenser. Reducing the glass mass means reducing the heat transferred to air and faster cooling of the glass and higher distillation.

Dear all i think small thickness of glass cover (less mass) will not store heat so its become cold for the vapor to condensed behind it
