The new paradigm of learning refers to a shift in the way education and learning are approached in the modern era. It is characterized by a focus on student-centered and experiential learning, integration of technology, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving. The new paradigm recognizes that learning is a lifelong process and prioritizes adaptability, critical thinking, and creativity over rote memorization. It also acknowledges the importance of diverse learning styles and the integration of practical skills and real-world experiences into the curriculum.
Dear colleague, thank you very much for your detailed answer. Do you recognize connectivisim as the learning paradigm of highest priory nowadays and does it fit best in the contemporary classroom with students from Z generation? Is it in rapport with the requirements of the final exams?
Connectivism is an integration of principles related to chaos, network, complexity, and self-organization theories. Conceptualized this way, connectivism can be considered as a new paradigm of learning that emphasizes rich affordances in the learning environment. It’s time for educators to think how to design tech-assisted learning materials and instruction to facilitate self-directed but deep learning.
The new paradigm of learning is synonymous with or can be likened to "21st century learning" or "student-centered learning."
It emphasizes skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, communication, and collaboration, as well as an integration of technology and real-world connections in the learning process. This approach prioritizes individualized learning experiences and student agency, and views students as active participants in their own education. Also, the approach places the learner at the center of the educational experience and focuses on developing the skills and abilities needed to succeed in the modern world, such as critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, communication, and collaboration. It also emphasizes the use of technology, real-world connections, and hands-on, experiential learning. The goal is to create a more engaging and personalized learning experience that prepares students for the challenges of the future.
Thank you very much for your contribution! Do you think we may look for a synergetic approach in terms of behaviorism-cognitivism-constructivism-connectivism? Or it is more appropriate to stick only to connectivism?
As much as i know, the new paradigm of learning is "personalized learning". It involves the use of technology such as LMS and AI to provide real-time feedback and adapt lessons to students' needs and their progress. This paradigm is grounded in social perspective of constructivism and Vygoskian concept of ZPD.
Thank you very much for your contributions! What do you think about the notion of smart pedagogy and how does it correlate with behaviourism, cognitivism and constructivism?
Smart pedagogy integrates elements from the above mentioned learning theories to create a comprehensive and effective learning experience. So smart pedagogy seeks to optimize learning by drawing on on the strengths of multiple theories and tailoring instruction to meet the needs of individual students.
On the face of it Connectivism seems to be a valuable contribution in the ongoing education theory / model debate. Really depends on how the educator uses it and how its impact is measured.
I consider that connectivism may be the paradigm for learning, but learning materials must be carefully planned, taking into account the formative profile of the learner. These materials must be highly mediated and completed with an exchange with teachers in tutorials.
