Can any one tell me the recent nomenclature of cyanobacteria? Please provide supporting article regarding approval of new name?

Eugenia's recommendation is good for the new higher level taxonomy in Cyanobacteria. If you are wondering which term is best -- "Cyanobacteria", "Cyanoprokaryotes", or "Cyanophyta" -- all are valid names. I think Cyanobacteria has the widest current usage (it is what I prefer), although Professor Komarek likes Cyanoprokaryotes, and he is the lead taxonomist in the field. You are safe using any of these terms in a publication.

Dear Shantanu you can use both Cyanobacteria or "Cyanoprokaryota"(recently used). But according to Komarek (Komarek et Anagnostidis 1995) Cyanoprokaryota is most useful term in recent days. In the monographs of Komarek, there are many divisions like Cyanoprokaryota-I, Cyanoprokaryota-II etc. For example order-Chroococcales placed under Cyanoprokaryota-I whereas order-Oscillatoriales was placed under Cyanoprokaryota-II.
