I am currently working on a research project that explores the flow patterns within a flue gas desulphurization, circulating fluidized bed riser, with a gas flow rate of 4-8 m/s. The gas (air) transports the solids (limestone, particle size 10-20 µm) through the riser.
Cylindrical riser: height = 6m; diameter = 0.3m.
The volume fraction of the solids is very low, and I am currently looking for the best measuring technique to determine the solids hold-up, mass flow, and solids distribution within the riser.
