I would add Miles and Huberman´s "Qualitative Data Analysis," out in a new edition with editorial input by Johnny Saldaña- it takes the reader from planning the project through to the end in a very readable form.
I taught thematic analysis in English to students in China. We used Braun & Clarke (2006) and for teaching purposes, set a research question that required focus on semantic level meaning as opposed to any social constructions that may or may not be of interest. Start simple. Get the process taught then work from there.
