what is the mechanism of removal, which taking off lignin and hemicollulose from the lignocellulose through the method of acetic acid pretreatment ? thanks!
For separation of lignin and hemicellulose from cellulose, the biomass first needs to be extracted with a mixture of ethanol-toluene (2:1) to remove all hydrophobic and hydrophilic non-structural components. The material can be extracted by alkaline treatment followed by hydrogen peroxide treatment and ultrafiltration. The hemicellulose and lignin fraction can be recovered by precipitation or spray drying.
