There is some relevant literature on making glass foams from waste cullet using Na2SiO3 as a foaming agent. Besides, ceramic glass foams can also be produced from F class fly ash with the aid of a fluxing agent such as boron minerals. Although I have found discussions about the mechanisms of foaming in the production of ceramic glass foams from various wastes using a number of different foaming agents such as Al, SiC, CaSO4, carbonates, and so on, I could not find an explanation about the Na2SiO3 foaming mechanism. I would appreciate if you could enlighten me about this subject. Many thanks...
