What is the mechanism of electroless plating of SIlver on a Silica surface?

A Silver shell can be reduced from silver nitrate onto a negatively charged surface using Butlyamine, what I'd like to know is exactly what's happening in the reaction. Thanks in advance for anyone that answers

Thank you for your response, I should have also stated that the reaction I've been using is carried out in ethanol, will this have an effect on the system?
